The results were transformative

Life as a busy executive, husband, and a father of three young kids is a whirlwind of responsibilities and demands. Like many, I found myself caught in the daily grind—juggling work, family commitments, and a hectic social life often involving food and drink. Somewhere along the way, my health took a backseat with unhealthy eating habits, poor sleep patterns resulting in my fitness levels plummeting. Before I knew it I was 96Kilos, at just under 6ft that’s overweight and unfit.

The Turning Point

The turning point came on a ski trip day when I realised I was struggling to keep up with my 13 year old Daughter whilst ski touring. Also, with two boys 6 and 8 it made me realise I need to make a change if I was to be a fully able to keep up with them as they grow up. I have always been sporty, Football, Mountain Biking and Skiing and I wanted to make sure I could do all of this as the family grows up, also as you get older, having a gut is not great from a health and feel good factor.

Building New Habits

I always used the excuse that I didn’t have time to fit in a regular fitness regime due to the amount of work commitments and family, however, that was just an excuse. I had to build a new habit, to make sure it wasn’t just a fad that you see people do all the time, this needed to be something that needed to be part for my life from now on and I need to make it work. I also worked out how much I spend on life in general, cars, holidays, socialising and decided that I should direct investment into myself and that’s when I reached out to Matt who has for the last 18 months helped me to account every Monday and Wednesday at 6am

The Transformation

The results were transformative. As I lost weight and gained strength, my energy levels soared. It took time and I had a few niggly injuries as I was working muscles and parts of my body I hadn’t worked for sometime, but as I worked through that the impact has been massive. It becomes a part for your life and I now stipple, meant the training with up to 3 5k runs each week, which is now easy due the weight loss but actually due to the strengthening of the core muscles, this means I no longer get any back pain or knee pain, which I always felt after any exercise. I play football with the boys and my Daughter now joins me on ruins and the boys come in the gym, it’s great to role model fitness with the kids.

On the aesthetics side, it is nice when people mention the weight loss, but it’s even better to be wearing really well-fitting clothes without the gut, and I’ve lost 3 inches around the waste.

Reflections and Future Goals

Looking back, I can’t believe how far I’ve come, it is 100% down to my desire to make a change and Matt holding me accountable to that, without that combination I would never have done it, and the workouts with Matt ensure I am also doing things the right way, it all culminated in Matt entering us into a 10mile fell running race, which I completed without stopping in 1hr 40, I have never run so far in my life and I loved it!! building new habits and making time for what matters is entirely possible.
